Bulgaria June 2012
December 21, 2025 at 5:53 pmBulgarian Rally The 2nd Interbalkanic Classic Rally sounded too good to miss – so we signed up for it. It was to be based at Varna on the Bulgarian Black Sea and jointly organised by the Greeks and Bulgarians. Our route out was influenced by insurance, the Green Card only covered EU countries which ruled More Bulgaria June 2012 →
23rd Classic Marathon
December 21, 2025 at 5:49 pmThe 23rd Classic Marathon effectively started at Portsmouth harbour when the cars taking the ferry to Bilbao were scrutineered. Even at this early stage there was drama – a Lotus Cortina was overheating whilst in the “big” Healey the navigator trod on the fire extinguisher setting off clouds of powder in and around the car. A report on the 2002 World Cup Rally London – Dubrovnik – Albania – Athens We have never been rallying before but the 2001 London – Sahara – London rally sounded interesting and we thought we would try it out. First step was a weekend practice (in a Mercedes 300TD!) More Albania 2002 →
Iceland 2008
December 21, 2025 at 5:46 pmOur Asian trip in March was very gentle on the car so there was just the clutch and the rear shock absorbers to replace before our trip to Iceland. After Immingham we next saw the car in a container in Reykjavik. Our first stop was scrutineering in an MOT station but I still cannot tell More Iceland 2008 →
New Zealand 2019
December 21, 2025 at 5:42 pmOur first trip in 2019 has started badly – the yellow Elan, making its first trip abroad since Tunisia in 2003 has been delayed in transit and will not arrive until a week after the trip starts. Great! And of course its no-one’s fault, everyone in shipping denies any wrong doing but they gave a More New Zealand 2019 →
Atlas 2024
December 21, 2025 at 5:40 pmWednesday Now in Rabat having crossed to Tangier this morning and planning an evening meander around the city whilst trying to find a working ATM, a local SIM card and supper. Uneventful day with a lot of motorway just to get the miles out of the way. A number of long standing rally friends on More Atlas 2024 →
Atlas 2018
December 21, 2025 at 5:39 pm8 April to Seville and the end. We left the hotel after a late breakfast for a wander round the town of Ronda (last visited in 2009) before a long Final Rally lunch at a small but noisy cafe just outside the town. I found that I had lost my driving licence to the last More Atlas 2018 →
Casablanca 2009
December 21, 2025 at 5:38 pmThe Casablanca Challenge lived up to its name but none of our challenges were as a result of the rally! We started with a newly rebuilt engine which had done about a thousand miles before the first “selectif” over Forestry Commission tracks in Kent. The cars were grouped into four categories – vintageant, classics, modern More Casablanca 2009 →

Road to Ladakh
December 21, 2025 at 5:32 pmSaturday 12th July. Two cars left Kargil very early – we know as our room overlooked the car park. The rest of us left just after 7. We followed a river for some way, in a lush valley. Then we climbed and the road seemed reasonable. There were sheep, goats and shepherds at the roadside More Road to Ladakh →
