Route 66

2 November, the day started chilly then it rained – not a good day to visit Newport CA and Balboa! We walked on Balboa Peninsula beach and it gradually stopped raining and got passably warm. Then up Highway 1 to Huntingdon Marina for lunch, a stroll on the beach and then to Los Angeles Airport More Route 66 →

12 July – we arrive in Travemunde at around 9pm after about 30 hours on a very calm ferry crossing from Helsinki (about 1150 km). Yesterday was the 300 mile drive to Helsinki, which started on glorious roads – wit no speed cameras! We had some confusion as Allison was adamant that we should be More Arctic Highway Challenge →

The Kingdom of Ladakh

July 2, 2014 at 2:09 pm

Saturday 12th July. Two cars left Kargil very early – we know as our room overlooked the car park. The rest of us left just after 7. We followed a river for some way, in a lush valley. Then we climbed and the road seemed reasonable. There were sheep, goats and shepherds at the roadside More The Kingdom of Ladakh →

Porsche Club Isle of Man Tour 2011

September 4, 2011 at 9:11 pm

Porsche Club Manx Tour May 2011 An early start meant we were in good time for the fast craft to the Isle of Man in spite of going under the Mersey Tunnel by mistake, due to moment of navigational inexactitude by Allison. One Porsche grounded a bit going on to the ferry, which unsurprisingly was More Porsche Club Isle of Man Tour 2011 →

Our 2007 trip was to the roof of the world or as near as we could manage. Our trip was to India, Nepal and Bhutan, the car may not have actually seen Everest – but we did from a chartered sightseeing jet from Kathmandu airport! The trip was planned well in advance and the cars More Himalayan Elan →

Midsummer Classic Car Run 20th June, 2010 The start at Hingham had 92 cars with 7 Lotus Elans, the most we have ever seen on the Run. Two Stanley steam cars attracted much attention and were later spotted filling up from a stream ant the Lake at Holkham Hall – good alternative to petrol. A More SCCON 2010 →
